Get the look: Vogue Williams' stylish London home

Tash Bradley, our Lead Colour Specialist, caught up with Vogue Williams to talk all things colour, interiors, and artwork. Earlier this year, we transformed her (in Vogue’s words) “white white white white white” London home into a modern eclectic retreat. We used a focal piece of art by Irish artist Peter Doyle to inform the colours throughout the house. Its light pinks, light blues, and teal can be seen throughout.

There was a bit of compromising to be done in the Williams-Matthews household. Vogue’s style is more muted with the odd pop of colour. She likes to use her walls as a backdrop to display her art collection, whilst Spencer is much bolder; “If the decor was left to him we’d be living in a Rubik’s cube”. But that’s what Tash is for.

Sit down with Tash and Vogue below as they delve deeper into the thought process behind the design style, and read on to find out how you can get the look.

The living room in the Williams-Matthews household is so much more than just a living room. An open-plan living space, it’s where they spend time as a family, where they cook, dine, lounge, and podcast. It’s safe to say it’s a multifunctional room and a  great example of broken-plan living.

We went for light grey Pink 01 for a white look with lots of warmth. According to Vogue, “it was the most surprising because when it went up on one wall, I was like oh god it’s really pink. But now the whole room is done, it just isn’t. It’s probably my favourite colour, just because it really brightens up the room”.

When compared to the light-filled living room, the hallway didn’t get much natural light, but that didn’t stop us from going darker with Teal 02 walls, paired beautifully with White 01 woodwork. It’s the perfect palette for Vogue to showcase her art collection. “I don’t buy myself expensive handbags, I buy myself art,” says Vogue, “it’s about finding those up and coming artists that you love and buying art that you look at and smile”. Some serious gallery wall idea inspo if ever we saw it.

In the guest loo, we went for light and bright with striped wallpaper paired with Blue 02 woodwork. This is a really versatile wallpaper that you can use in almost any room, but it looks particularly stylish in this downstairs loo.

“It’s my favourite wallpaper—and I never would have thought to put it on the ceiling!”.

Sticking with the blues, we went for Blue 03 in Vogue’s second bathroom and even used Blue 02 again in their bedroom. “Our bedroom was missing something and I loved this blue. “I was worried it would make it a bit cold, but now our bedroom is warm and cosier”. Because of its yellow undertones, Blue 02 is a warm and soothing option. According to Tash, “it’s really calming and can even help you sleep”. Perfect for a bedroom.

Like many bathrooms, Vogue’s en suite doesn’t get that much natural light, so we went for the warming, yet grown-up Pink 04 paired with playful Animal 02 wallpaper. “Even Spencer likes the pink! It’s not something I’d use in the entire house, but I wanted to use it somewhere. I want to use it in our house in Ireland, too.”

To conclude? “The paint has really tied it all together. I’m annoyed that I hadn’t done it before because it makes such a difference. It just feels like we’ve got our stamp on it now and it’s more how we want it”. In fact, Vogue enjoyed the experience so much that they’ve painted the exterior of their house in Ireland in White 01 exterior and masonry paint. That’s right, we ship to Ireland now!
