Ah, spring. Arguably the most joyful season of the year is here. It’s also the season where we see some of the most wonderful colours on display, as florals and pretty plants bloom to beauty. Interestingly, our good mood in spring isn’t just related to the fact that it’s getting warmer (although that definitely doesn’t hurt). According to colour psychology, the colours we are surrounded with in the spring season also have a positive impact on our mood.

So, let’s get into the colours themselves. Other than the undertone; you either have yellow or blue based colours. You can, of course, add other undertones to those colours.
When it comes to the seasons, autumn and spring colours are yellow based and summer and winter colours are blue based. As Tash says, “What makes spring colours unique and separate to autumn colours is that they are all entirely yellow based - all spring colours have no black added to them. This is what gives them the highly saturated, clear and fresh feel”. Yellow based colours have a warmth and inherent bounce and vitality to them - including all the lively, happy energy that we associate with springtime.
